@ctl1215 @eric00337327 @SamShar51775262@TseHillary @teachertalksTO A3Q2: Interesting question as a lot of parents are utilizing these tours while being isolated at home. I feel that we take for granted going to museums and when opportunities arise to do it virtually, we know it's not the same thing. Perhaps this will change now? @DrAllisonR
@ctl1215 @eric00337327 @SamShar51775262@TseHillary @teachertalksTO A3Q1: An ability to zoom in, circle around an object and see its depth provides a sense of reality to a virtual tour. You are able to visualize what this would look like if you were there walking around the area or looking more intently at one artifact. @DrAllisonR
@HabeebSafeena@ctl1215 @DrAllisonR Q6: Especially considering not all students have access to internet/computers/phones to access information. They wouldn't be able to access their materials if it was solely on virtual platforms. I also think of students who require physical copies due to medical issues.
@HabeebSafeena@ctl1215 @DrAllisonR Q5: I agree that they should use authentic resources/justification of their claims. There should also be consistent moderating by the instructor to ensure these are guidelines are being met. Providing students an amount of posts to make to is important @DrAllisonR @HabeebSafeena
@ctl1215 @DrAllisonR Q6: Students are able to access all the info at any point. It helps with organization of material (date stamps, ability to download etc). Especially students who may lose material. But, some students have trouble accessing info online, may not follow up with work etc.@DrAllisonR
@ctl1215 Q6: Some makerspace ideas involve students 3D printing, (ie. models of cellular organelles.) Although helpful, what gets done with these printed models? Most likely students will throw them out. Also, what schools readily have access to a 3D printer? @DrAllisonR
@ctl1215 I am glad I learned about makerspaces in my PST courses. I think it provides us an opportunity to see how we can integrate STEM and have an authentic audience to showcase our creations. In a way it moves us past the classic science fair projects and into a new era. @DrAllisonR
@ctl1215 Q4 Response: Mlearning can be beneficial for some students, but it require self discipline for students to follow along with the curriculum and tasks that are assigned. I don’t think it’s a goal we should strive with. Not all students benefit from this learning. @DrAllisonR
@ctl1215 Q1 Response: I think another limiting factor is time. There can be a lot of prep associated to planning inquiry based activities. The time devoted to planning can deter teachers to do these activities in class. @DrAllisonR
