We hope our colourful message puts a smile on someone’s face today. The Kinders worked hard on it, despite the intriguing distractions of leaves and bugs making their way in and out of our artwork! #pssd#getoutside
To celebrate Earth Day, we got outside and created ‘earthworks’ sculptures to reconnect with our planet. Our inspiration came from artists Goldsworthy and Smithson. The ideas were flowing and we felt the sun on our skin and the wind in our hair. #pssd#getoutside#EarthDay
After many number talks as a part of our math routine, my students are becoming teachers as they explain their thinking to classmates!

After reading “The Orange Shirt Story” by Phyllis Webstad, we talked about how kids must have felt at residential schools. We thought about how kids SHOULD feel at school - what a contrast. Some words that came up repeatedly were happy, safe, and loved. #EveryChildMatters
One of my many favourite parts of teaching is seeing the creativity & passion spill out of Ss through their writing. Reading the 1st sample that Ss shared had me laughing, crying & more than anything excited to see where their writing takes them this year! #pssdprideandjoy
I took the leap and tried number talks in my classroom this week after learning from Sherry Parrish. The students were so engaged and excited to share their thinking with others! #pssd#pssdprideandjoy
Our classroom expectations are up on the wall! My Grade 4’s collaborated to create their own “rules” for the space that they want to be a part of. #pssdprideandjoy
I loved seeing the engagement of my students today when we taught each other about “wonderful women who made a difference in history”.
Comments overheard:
• I can’t wait to be a woman!
• Ms. Funk, can you believe what she did?!
• Woooaahh!! She is still alive. Right. Now.
