🧵 I am deeply disturbed by @MayorBowser’s recent newsletter blaming and finger pointing on youth-involved crime instead of taking ownership for the District’s years of divestment in our youth. And, I’m equally disappointed in CM @MaryCheh’s remarks at a recent press conference…
I witnessed over 35 teachers assembled in the auditorium of @AnacostiaHigh to express concerns related to safety and building conditions. Crisis and wellness teams need to be dispatched and bullet holes patched before students and staff return on Monday @DCPSChancellor@DCDGS

So far we are seeing:
- Low attendance rates
- Lack of evidence of cleaning
- Insufficient supply of K-N95 masks
Wearing red in support of my fellow educators. We deserve safer working conditions than this. Teacher work conditions are student learning conditions! @DC_CORE
When an entire test to return to school program is botched, but no one admits the imminent danger this failure poses.
(Maybe you want to call @DCPSChancellor about this, too, @ChmnMendelson, and express your concern?)
@DCDPW@MayorBowser This is interesting because @MayorBowser and @DCPSChancellor are forcing teachers to drive today in unsafe and unplowed conditions. Their blatant disregard for health and safety is absurd.
Next week students and teachers are being told to go back into unsafe schools as COVID cases continue to explode.
Come to a DCPS Educator and Family Town Hall to decide on OUR plan!

@DCPSChancellor When was health and safety ever a priority for @dcpublicschools? The lack of transparency throughout this pandemic has resulted in over a thousand Covid cases and complete lack of trust in the district by parents, teachers, and students. We need virtual until the surge passes.
