@JJWatt I’m fortunate to teach with some of my very best friends! There’s nothing better than being in the trenches with good people! Go get em, guys! I’m looking forward to seeing Andrew Luck on his back a lot when I watch you in Oct!
I guess my biggest takeaway this week is that we need to be more creative to bring physical activity INTO the regular class room. The idea of sensory motor “labs” intrigued me. I’m interested in learning more about this. #hayesbookclub
@KyleBrandt THANK YOU for pointing out that TY is a problem that needs to be fixed!!! @HoustonTexans you have to shut him down to win the division. It’s that simple!
@gmfb@dmorg91@Titans Love hearing about athletes who take caring for their communities so seriously! #nflgivesback Thanks for starting my day off on a positive note!
@dmorg91 thank you for so eloquently describing why you do what you do with your kngdm impact program! I’ve taught in an economically depressed area for 21 years and am frustrated by policy makers who have no clue. Thank you for giving back!
We are reminded to be cognizant of the REASON for acting out behaviors. Our students don’t have secure attachments. They do not know how to interact appropriately, and we must 1st form a relationship with them and then TEACH them how healthy relationships work. #hayesbookclub
As I read about formative assess., it took me back to the Dr. B days when we created the curr. maps and wrote common form. assess. and even scored ER questions as a dept (at GMS). We had short weekly assess. based on power standards and longer 1/4-ly assessments. #hayesbookclub
Dr. Iarussi put together the literacy committee and a plan is being written. My question has always been and remains, what do we do to address birth to age 5? How do we have an impact there? I know we’re expanding preK, but what else? #hayesbookclub
The more I read, the more I wonder why law-makers aren’t required to read books like this before making policies that actually harm school in low socioeconomic areas. #hayesbookclub
P 29-learned helplessness takes hold as early as 1st grade. We HAVE to provide opportunities for our students to take control of their learning as soon as they walk in our doors to overcome this. #hayesbookclub
