I haven’t posted a lot this year because it has been flying by! I’m teaching a clustered group this year & they’re EXCEEDING my expectations. Here’s our Social Contract we created at the beginning of the year. I’m so amazed at the conversations that happened when we created this!
“The points are great, but I read to escape.” - Ms. Mac. I try my best to teach my students to find books that interest and intrigue them. If they want to get AR points, that’s great, but I personally struggled with AR when I was in school and it hindered my love of reading.
Today, a student with language disability not only understood and told me that a character was bullying, he also ran to get another book due to a Text-to-Text connection he made. Two years together and this moment was amazing. Testing can never show this. #2ndGradeThoughts
For a novel you write seventy thousand words or so. For a picture book you DELETE sixty-nine thousand, two hundred. Or maybe I’m doing something wrong.
