@MandiTolenEDU It allows the information to become yours. By taking it in and "reproducing" it in your way, with your own visuals, the material is no longer foreign, but yours. Relevancy and ownership help deepen understanding and spark curiosity! #ditchbook
@MandiTolenEDU I want to create my own sketchnotes for each unit I teach. This way, I have not only words but visuals. By improving and practicing for me, hopefully I can become more comfortable embracing it in my classroom! #ditchbook
@MandiTolenEDU A1:
I love the fact that it lets them tell their own story. They take in information and create their own visuals, characters, and stories. This helps them to engage and remember! #ditchbook
@DelaneyELDiana @TanELLclassroom @kruu_justin Try it out! I gave them a "pre-assessment", focusing on what they think it will be like, why it might be good, struggles we may have...etc. and will revisit at the end!! Student perception, perspective, and input is so valuable!
@kruu_justin A6:
Say thank you. It's an easy and meaningful way to recognize the hard work they are putting in and the growth they are making. #coteachat
@TanELLclassroom A5: Be kind, but consistent.
Recognize their perspective and understand where they are coming from. This helps you to approach and meet them where they are. But, be consistent in pushing for growth. We only grow when we are pushed out of our comfort zone! #coteachat
@TanELLclassroom A3:
When working with a T who isn't yet comfortable, you can't prescribe the lesson for them. Rather, work with them, inviting them to have a conversation and active role in planning. Feeling as though one person is doing all the planning is off-putting, be a team! #coteachat
