@NateIrvine @MrsAllanArt @redjustinjohnso @MrsMieschigan@MieschTodd I’m late on this but totally agree - notes from students are the best, and cash/nice chocolate/gift cards are always appreciated!
Felicidades a la banda de Hoffman! Tan orgullosa de su dedicación a aprender y practicar sus instrumentos. Congrats, Hoffman band! So proud of their dedication to learning and practicing their instruments. (They all groaned at me for wanting to take this picture 😂) #WeAreD34
Shoutout to Milton for working hard and being amazing! He's been working on responsibility and organization and is learning something new every day! He's also a creative builder and always surprises me with his inventions.
Thankful for the time spent learning and planning at this beautiful @GlenviewPkDist building with my coteaching cohort! I could stare out this window all day.
Hoy escribimos cuentos colaborativos, cada estudiante escribiendo una oración para continuar un cuento. It was so cool to hear everyone reading in English y Español, ¡y nos reímos bastante! (bonus: this activity covers all four language domains and is super engaging!)
We were talking about how well we know each other when a student asked, “If you know me so well, what’s my mom’s name?” That was her first question. Not what her favorite anything was, her FAMILY. In many Latino cultures, identity=family. Know your students, know their families.
How would I want to be treated if I were 10 and didn’t get enough sleep because people were yelling last night/all week and I’m worried about everything? The world is a stressful place right now. It’s ok to take care. Teaching with kindness and compassion today and every day.
Always trying to find small ways to incorporate student choice throughout the day because it builds ownership, agency, responsibility, and motivation. Today's choices: Where do you want to sit? What test do you want to take first? When do you want to take a break? #studentled
