How to change from TEACHING to LEARNING #17: Instead of giving feedback as a grade/That's right/This is wrong
TRY
Making feedback about learning:
-Here's where you are
-There is the goal
-This is what success is
-Here's the next steps you can take to move towards the goal
Learning happened today.
We didn't sit in desks.
No one took notes.
There is no homework.
I didn't mark anything.
But there was collaboration, creativity, risk taking and problem-solving. There was self-assessment and peer feedback. Sounds like my dream.
"I feel it’s so important to talk about WHY we expect certain behaviors at school. I made the anchor chart and then we came together and brainstormed examples of when we are expected to be quiet vs talk," third-grade teacher Jenna Monty, who was inspired by @room213tpt, writes.

Today is my 32nd birthday.
Over the last month, I asked several 90-year-olds what advice they would give to their 32-year-old selves.
Here's the life advice everyone needs to hear:
Homework does little to improve achievement and can actually have negative effects, especially at elementary level. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus! And should never be taken away.
Every parent who has a child under 18 in Ontario should be VERY concerned about how this healthcare situation is unfolding. When you hear the words “triage” from a paediatrics perspective… that is NOT good.
