Reception have loved playing in the water area this week. We have been looking this term in maths at measures such as height, length, time, weight and capacity. The children made a water slide for the sea creatures and worked as a team to make it taller and faster.
Year 2 have had a great sports week so far. Today Becky told us all about freestyle kayaking and we decided it looks cool, but frightening! We had a chance to complete circuits to improve our strength and fitness.
Year 2 have been preparing for Sports Day and trying some Olympic sports, including javelin and shot putt. We have had a great time, and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Year 2 were geographers this week. We used our observation skills to help us make maps of the local area. The traffic survey was a highlight, as you will be aware if you were one of the drivers who was cheered as you drove past us, with our hi-vis jackets and clipboards.
Year 3 children have had a busy busy week. We have done drama in Writing, learning about South America in Geography, made a crumble in DT and practised time in maths.
This weeks words are 'Structure', 'Substitution' and 'Sufficient'. Our students, along with the students at the other primary schools across our Trust will be learning these words this week. Share in the comments how your children have used them this week!
This morning, Avtar from ArtsForm visited Year 2 to teach us how to play the dhol drum. The children had a great time and really showed their teamwork and rhythm skills. Well done Year 2.
All the staff who went on the residential would like to give a big shout out to ALL the children! They were respectful, they persevered and became courageous throughout our time there. They had so much fun, ate lots of food and had a big sleepover. We are so proud!
To mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, Year 6 produced work explaining the significance of the day. In the words of the King: "Our obligation to remember them, what they stood for, and what they achieved for us all, can never diminish!"
Year 3 have are having the best time at Netherside! We’ve done lots of activities and are just getting ready for our tea! Looking forward to more fun to come!

This week the children have been learning about the story 'Somebody swallowed Stanley' and focusing on key vocabulary. We have been exploring all about under the sea and developing our Oracy skills in provision.
We have started our DT topic in year 3.
Yesterday, we created our own fruit kebabs by following instructions, using correct equipment and fresh fruit.

Today in year 3, we are starting our new writing topic. We will be using the book 'Into the Forest' by Anthony Browne to help gather ideas. They have been left some clues that link to the book! Can you guess what it is about?
The past few weeks reception have been working hard on their art project. We have been learning about the artists Yayoi Kusama and Barbara Hepworth. We made our own sculptures using clay inspired by both of these artists. Well done reception for your excellent sculptures !
