Every Dollar Fights Starvation

Salah Jabr is a 27-year-old single man from Gaza living with his parents and three siblings in a rented, damaged house after being displaced twice during the genocide. Before his injuries, he was the family's only provider, but after being wounded in Israeli airstrikes, he sustained a serious neck injury that severed a tendon behind his ear and a severe fracture to his left foot, leaving him unable to work and still in need of surgery, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical care. His 52-year-old father has type 1 diabetes, high blood pressure, and survived two strokes that left him with paralysis in his right arm and leg, requiring around $200 in monthly medication and daily assistance. His 50-year-old mother has asthma and depends on regular treatment. Salah's 24-year-old brother and 21-year-old sister were forced to leave university because the family could no longer afford tuition, while his 18-year-old brother's education is also at risk due to financial hardship. With no one else in the household able to earn an income, the family struggles to cover the $700 rent, medical expenses, food, and other basic needs while Salah continues his recovery.
