Sigh. If the Liberals and NDP don't join forces, then we will have another 4 years of the Cons. Then, we will have a more difficult time getting them out. This is heartbreaking.
@nathaliejacoby1 I see them occasionally in Ontario, and when I do, I'm seriously disturbed. Seeing them in my home state of MS is one thing because I expect it, but here it freaks me out.
@lovseniors I have a silver one that I've had for over 20 years. It has charms from many of the places I've visited. It's the perfect reminder of my adventures. (I'm 50!)
I think sometimes we need to step back and just go, "Do my students actually need a score on this, or do I just feel like my grade book needs a score to make the adults happy?"
You know that feeling when you give your class an assignment and they are all excited, and then they show you their work, and you are doubly excited, and they are happy to get feedback and then take it to the next level? Yep! It was that kind of day!
This morning I saw a post (I’m not going to retweet it or tag the teacher because teacher finger pointing isn’t the point) that offered a seemingly helpful instructional practice/strategy
We are one thought away from being in the moment. If a student (or teacher) is living through ongoing trauma, getting to the moment is akin to climbing a mountain barefoot.
If 80% of our thoughts are negative, imagine what that % would be for a student who had a bad day. The mindfulness course I'm taking has me looking at student mental health with new eyes.
@GiftedTawk I've cried when I was reading something, teaching something, when my dad died, when a student had cancer, when a student was crying. Crying is very human and should not be stigmatized. We do not have to be cold marble.
