A growing worldwide baptism movement is drawing attention after California pastor Mark Francey shared how a “supernatural” encounter with God inspired him to launch what has now become a global call for Christians to publicly declare their faith through baptism. Francey, pastor of Oceans Church, said the vision eventually led to “Baptize SoCal,” “Baptize California,” “Baptize America,” and now “Baptize the World,” an international event scheduled for Pentecost Sunday on May 24.
According to CBN News, the movement has already resulted in tens of thousands of baptisms over the past three years. Organizers say Baptize SoCal saw more than 4,000 baptisms in 2023, while Baptize America reportedly led to nearly 28,000 baptisms in 2025. Francey said he believes God is uniting believers across denominational lines around the shared mission of leading people to Jesus Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 28.
Francey also described receiving an “open vision” from God that he initially tried to resist before finally stepping out in faith. Organizers now hope churches from nations around the world will participate together in one of the largest synchronized baptism events in modern Christian history.

A powerful global movement is underway as faith communities prepare to unite for a historic event. Mark Francey, pastor of Oceans Church in California, is the visionary behind "Baptize the World," an initiative inviting churches across the globe to come together and baptize believers simultaneously on Pentecost Sunday.
The movement began as a local effort with Baptize SoCal, which saw 4,166 baptisms, before expanding into Baptize California the following year with 6,201 baptisms.
The momentum surged significantly in 2025 with Baptize America, resulting in an incredible 27,858 individuals being baptized across the nation. Now, organizers are looking beyond national borders, aiming to rally people worldwide to publicly profess their faith in Jesus Christ as one global church body.
