2025 is the year of renewed purpose for my teaching career. No, I’m not planning any moves, just rethinking my WHY. I’m leaning in to helping my students look at different paths for post-grad and snatching up scholarships. It’s not in my state standards, but it matters.

Way to go, Weber! Brand new program to sanctioned sports and Weber showed up! After an amazing fall for Weber in women’s volleyball, I can’t wait to see how the guys compete! ❤️🖤🏐
@DrPeteSullivan@TomSchimmer I’m a user of standards based grades, I haven’t perfected it, but I know some students expect to meet a standard because they were “here and tried.” There isn’t that option. There is an expectation. Each standard I set, even not meeting the standard, identifies a positive skill.
If this isn’t me every day as a high school teacher 😅 seriously! The nice thing is, I teach 5 sections of the same thing, the first day I will teach the thing twice, the next day three times… so I hope I get to hit that better/great threshold more than once!
1st Period: I am a good teacher
2nd Period: Twice through & I am a better teacher
3rd Period: I have ironed out all the wrinkles in the lesson plan. I am the best teacher
4th Period: Everyone is tired. I am back to being a just a good teacher again
I’m considering this. I’ve struggled to remediate this last year because so few students will even start working on assignments that I accept after the due date until it becomes a concern about passing or failing. I want to help students learn at high levels, not just pass.
@MarcusLuther6 My policy, written and posted everywhere, is as follows: everything accepted late for full credit. No late assignments will receive written feedback and they are not eligible for revision. So, you can choose - do you need more time or more help?
How should we step in to help students with self-regulation skills? The key term is self, but students have access to apps with algorithms designed for addiction. Students SHOULD have access to devices to learn to control their scroll, but many won’t… and the cost is great.
I knew he would get it! What an amazing finish from an incredibly talented AND hardworking freshman! Coach Trane has done some wonders with Weber hurdlers!
There’s something about Taylor Swift's lyrics that make her an icon. In fact, her lyrics are often literary. | By @HannaSeariac #MidnightsTaylorSwift#TaylorSwift
