Introduced the states of matter through a fun experiment today! Students worked in groups to melt their bag of ice (solid to liquid)… then predicted how much Alka-Seltzer it would take to burst open their bag (producing gas)! #superscientists@BirneyBobcats
My students have been eager to help @BirneyBobcats reach our Beanstack reading goal! So focused and engaged during independent reading today. @jacleary13
Continuing our work with place value! Students were tasked with building 3-digit numbers with base-10 blocks and then comparing them! #handsonmath@BirneyBobcats
I love having a longer phonics block this year! After a quick mini-lesson, we pull phonics groups while the rest of the class works on independent phonics practice! (They love @BoomLearning!) @BirneyBobcats
@km_stieber thank you for your idea of creating a giant HTO chart last year! Today we rolled place value dice and represented 3-digit numbers with base-10 blocks on our giant HTO chart. Ss then drew a pictorial representation! @BirneyBobcats
We had an absolute blast during our Pac-Man themed STEM Day! Students were challenged to solve mazes, design and build their own, and even guide a robot through a maze! Thank you to @KhaiaTeaches for planning another amazing and engaging STEM Day! @BirneyBobcats
So thankful to @BirneyBobcats PTA, admin, coaches, and Partners in Education for all of the delicious goodies we’ve gotten for #TeacherAppreciationWeek!

We had the BEST time at the Safety Village today! Thank you to all the police officers and firefighters who took their time to teach us about fire and safety information in a fun, hands-on way! @BirneyBobcats
Happy April Fools… time for my annual “Brown E’s” prank! My students were disappointed that I didn’t actually make them brownies—but I did bring some Cosmic Brownies! To integrate math, we practiced partitioning them into equal rows and columns before digging in @BirneyBobcats
Our latest writing assignment involved getting a little creative! We studied the persuasive elements used in many print advertisements and then students were tasked with creating their own! @BirneyBobcats
What a great end to #ReadAcrossAmericaWeek! We snuggled up with our stuffed animals and enjoyed reading with our partners… all in the comfort of our pajamas! @BirneyBobcats
