@mrserinlocke@dbalayti@mrserinlocke Haha- Bitmoji for the win! Time consuming, but fun. Definitely a good thought to help engagement! Check out Pixton as well- students can make their own avatars and have autonomy in a not-autonomous time #USF681Sum
@mrserinlocke@dbalayti@mrserinlocke Screencastify was a HUGE saver! Many kids couldn't attend live sessions bc they care for siblings- so they would watch the videos, try activity, & message questions. Also helpful for shy students who weren't confident stopping meeting to ask a question. #USF681Sum
@mrserinlocke@dbalayti@mrserinlocke What are your thoughts on creating digital "centers" that students are working on, off-camera; while you work with a small group on camera? I did not venture into this during eLearning, but am considering trying the first week of summer school. Thoughts? #USF681Sum
@dbalayti Q3: Utilizing different online software/ apps allows teachers to monitor understanding and engagement (even if students can't attend online meeting session). edPuzzle, Quizizz, Socrative, HappyNumbers, Khan Academy, RAZ are all MUCH more fun than a GoogleForm! #USF681Sum
@mrserinlocke@dbalayti Hat is tipped K-2 teachers. There were times I wanted to pull my hair with 5th eLearning, couldn't have handled little ones! I'm teaching summer school (4th grade) and am nervous because students come from all over district (some schools rich w/ tech, some not so much) #USF681Sum
@mrserinlocke@dbalayti Thank you for the clarification. In our districts, students are given their own device in 6th grade, that they use until 8th grade; at which point it becomes theirs to keep. The local high school has students bring these devices to high school. #USF681Sum
@mrserinlocke@dbalayti Erin- You bring up a great point about having IT remotely troubleshoot and fix broken hardware. This is a new challenge to navigate, but one that needs to begin by July in order to assure student devices are ready to be used in August- virtually or IRL
@dbalayti A1 (Part 2): Teachers have no been informed of a plan collecting devices.. students get to keep them in the summer and our admin will "keep us updated" when they "solidify" the collection plan #makesmenervous#USF681Sum
@dbalayti A1(Part 1): Hey everyone- Wanted to give Twitter a try! My district waited until Week 6 of eLearning to make devices available for all students, so for much of the time- I was only able to meet with 4-5 students consistently. When they all got devices, 16/ 19 students. #USF681Sum
So awesome! Teachers from @JolietSD86 plan to rally in support of their Black and African American students 1-3 p.m. June 13 at sites near each of the district's middle schools. "We want them to know that we see them and we hear them and we love them." https://t.co/sJ96LaXAq3
