@KaitlynSchiess I put this in my church, right on our "fidget bag" stand. Those are bags of small toys we provide for any kid (or adult!) who needs something for their hands during the service. None of these ideas were mine, simply putting forth the wisdom of others
this is so good. In my culture, growing up, as soon as a baby started crying in church, a parent automatically walked out with them. It’s so habitual for me to do but i’m trying to be okay with my girl crying and making loud baby noises 😂
Let me tell y'all why I'm so passionate about kids in church:
making churches safe and loving communities for messy, loud, wiggly children is a direct confrontation to our obsession with power, status, productivity, efficiency, and control.
In 1970, my mother was 16 & my dad was 17, when they convinced me. The school nurse told my mom "to abort me." My mom and dad were poor, in a hard, violent environment. But they let me live. They gave me a chance at life. I'm grateful.
“One’s pride will bring him low,
but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.”
—Proverbs 29:23
Pride is calamitous in anyone—but especially in followers of the exalted One who humbled Himself and died to save us from sin and pride.
Let’s make it #humilitymonth.
I just found out the person killed in the Laguna Woods shooting yesterday was my primary care physician, Dr. John Cheng. Absolute hero. He attacked the gunman and helped save so many in that church. I just wanted his name to be known. He will be missed.
