Agree! I’ve been giving away pencils to students who needed them for years! Was shamed by past colleagues that I was too easy on my students and was giving them the “easy way” out. Glad everyone is on board now and sees the ridiculous in shaming students for not having a pencil!

I was scrolling and saw this. The comments were saying how awesome this idea is. Me? I see it as a (not so) subtle way to shame kids who are unprepared, without knowing why. Why do we as teachers find bliss in protecting a cheap tool that students need to succeed? #giveemapencil
