It was a great day to welcome our correctional colleagues from the Norfolk VA Sheriff's Office. They toured and learned about the specialized units and programming we offer at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction - including a stop at Project EARTH!

This week we collaborated with our Shirley PD partners to talk scam awareness and prevention with local residents at the Shirley Senior Center. Thanks to Chief Santiago and the Council on Aging for facilitating a great event.

Last week Victim Services Coordinator Ashley Griffith was the guest speaker at a violence prevention month event hosted by Portal to Hope and the Everett Police Department. Ashley joined others at Everett City Hall to talk about her important work and MSO programs.

Today Deputy Matthew Doherty was presented with the Medal of Valor at the 29th Annual Excellence in Corrections Awards. Deputy Doherty was honored for his heroic actions in disregarding his own personal safety to rescue a man from a house fire while off-duty at home. #WeAreTheMSO

It's not every day that your office's patch goes to space. Recently, Astronaut Christopher L. Williams carried an MSO patch aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in honor of late retired MSO Captain - and legendary Shawsheen Tech wrestling coach - Mark "Dunnie" Donovan.

This week, #54thBTA recruits experienced a challenging but important rite of passage in law enforcement training... OC exposure. This exercise prepares recruits to stay calm and focused while working through discomfort and stress. Only one week until graduation for these recruits

As we mark Peace Officers Memorial Day, we remember the sacrifice and service of our law enforcement and correctional colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers today. #NeverForgotten

Today we pause to remember Jail Master David Robinson who was shot and killed while attempting to prevent an escape at the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge on Mother's Day (May 14) 1961. We honor his sacrifice and continue to hold his family in our thoughts. #LODD #NeverForgetten
