@FkMySmPnsLife I just don't get why we have to assume that earth is the US in this analogy. Could it not just as easily be that krypton is the colonial power?
the movie is in wonderful conversation with the original book! I thought it was a very deft, purposeful film! wouldve like a bit more time to breathe in the edit but, to me, the emphasis felt placed in the right scenes

The 2D Zelda's other than the 2 i added don't really have enough depth story-wise to be in the list
@angelfir3d0ll its a mode of "analysis" which really only makes sense for a viewer. Lots said for what should not be done but no account of what propels an artistic endeavor. For these people, should we believe them, a story would be much better off if it never started
@naranciagaming@unluckylabor sometimes I say 'received' and 'recipient', and that's become quite normal in my mind. Might seem very weird to others though
@ehyeahwhatever I also strongly dislike the authoritative access to "intent" that people pretend to have for art "critique". But surely it is possible for any cohesive sense of a story that might exist in 78 to drastically shift by 05. Those are surely different concepts being tapped into?
@BanhmiBrieoche obviously there's a lot of interplay. Principles about what beliefs we should/shouldn't accept are surely beliefs themselves. And its altogether ultimately cultivated by your environment BUT I think the point is trying to locate the right kind of principles for moral reasoning
@BanhmiBrieoche is there not a distinction to be made between the beliefs that we hold and the underlying process by which we assess them/integrate them into our lives? in hypotheticals like this, I think we are trying to keep the latter as we are and forget the former
