Kids would usually bring bundles of Valentines cards & candy to school today. But many schools told students not to send anything this year, worried about COVID spread.

Instead of cancelling Valentines outright, teachers got creative. Like grade 4 teacher Jenna Pacheco.

For journals today, students got to write about whatever they want! Giving students the freedom to write about what they want allowed for learning excitement ! 🥰

Students continue their procedural writing by working in groups to explain to me how to draw a snowman on the board! Love seeing the improvement in their writing over the past couple weeks and the strategies they use to make sure they have transition words (first, then, last)
