@tvems 8th graders did reading sprints as a way to get into their Critical Literacy Unit books! They read for short bursts of time and answered a question when the timer went off. The questions helped them with learning about the characters, setting and conflict. @TV_Vikes

We had a discussion about what makes a great classroom environment. I told them what I need from them and they filled out their own pie chart for what they need from me and their peers. We combined our ideas and we now have a balanced set of norms to follow! @tvems

Make conferencing a thing in your classroom! I ask the students a specific question and have them leave a post it as an exit ticket. I match the post-its up based on need/growth on the skill. Once they are sorted, I have 5-7 small conferring groups! Easy as that!
