Today may have been a ‘snow day’, but I was still in many virtual meetings - and my FAVORITE was with @CBEBears teacher, Renata Isa, who spoke to senators about the importance of HB3 funding. I am SO proud to work with Renata! Super ⭐️ Teacher! @roxxy_griffin#RISDgreatness
@3jstone this meant a lot especially in a time like this. Thank you for your clear stance. I look forward to being a part of this anticipated action. “Richardson ISD superintendent: I’m learning how to talk about systemic racism in our district”. https://t.co/1XBvGg6esr
Just played Among Us for the first time ever with my 5th graders. Hated it, especially since they voted me off 😭 But my kids loved it and were SO happy I played with them #RelationshipsMatter#distancelearning
Thank you @risdace. That’s because of the teachers our students had before us like @courtneyjwright and @AutumnUrton that help make it happen. This is our third year of ACE and our students’ growth is what we have to show for that. 😍🎉
I want to send a special shout out to Laurie Kyle, Agnes Khan and Renata Issa @CBEBears Your efforts are making a difference with your scholars! Thank you for being a Rock Star at Work! #positiveoutcomes YOU have been noticed! @roxxy_griffin
Picture this:Giving a lesson on the difference between “there, their, and they’re”to a student with her face mask on via Zoom who's waiting for her parents to finish buying groceries in a Sams food court on a Thursday evening. Here for it, though. #distancelearning#risdgreatness
Today: Student noticed classmates struggling with the same thing. Wanting to help, he led a small group. I listened. He explained it well and students asked follow up questions. I think this might actually be why I’m here. #cbebears#risdsaysomething
5th grade @CBEBears love a good challenge. Today we wrote, revised, edited, and played some pretty intense games. Do you want to know what was our “win” for the day? Hardly any scholars asked to use the restroom! #risdsaysomething#toobusylearning
Try tying a knot with Twizzlers using only one hand, it’s tough. Now let someone help you using their one hand, it’s much easier! Today we learned that team work & communication is important when doing hard things. #embracethestruggle#dontquit#whenthegoinggetstough
Our first day back was a success! It was so fun meeting our new students and watching our old ones move on up to 6th grade and become the amazing leaders on campus. I can’t wait to see the growth ALL of our students… https://t.co/q4B5xNUk8U
I am in the process of learning about race... and the role that institutional racism has played and continues to play in undermining equity in our schools.
It is not a comfortable process... but it is a moral imperative for every educator.
It begins with humility.
We had such a blast at the Dallas arboretum! Thank you @CBEBears teachers, admin., support staff, & donors for making this incredible experience possible for our 5th grade boys, they won’t forget this! ♥️
All we do is learn, learn, learn, no matter what. Got growin’ on our minds, we can never get enough. And every time we step into this school, our grades go UP! And they stay there!! #CBEpride#vocabfordays#namethatsong @CBEBears
