The GECDSB is excited to partner with the Windsor Express and many other community organizations to host the 3rd Annual Express to the Trades event. Students in Grades 7 to 12 can participate in the Skilled Trades Expo at the WFCU Centre on February 7th from 4pm to 7pm and receive up to three tickets to the Windsor Express game as well as a food voucher. Bake Club was at it again today! Sugar cookies are being prepped for Grade 8 Open House 🍪

Apple donuts continued in @VMMustangs ‘s Bake Club! It was all hands on deck, and they did a great job! Many used a piping bag for the first time and we’re pros right from the get go 🍩🍏👌

It was full Halloween in HFA4U/C and HFN2O! Students made a Pumpkin Cookie recipe that I learned how to make in grade 1 🎃🍪

Side note: I quickly found out most teenagers do not know the classic TV show The Reading Rainbow but still one of my favourite costumes to date! 🌈📚

It was donut day in HFA4U/C and HFN2O! Students learned how to use piping bags while making apple cinnamon donuts. So cool to see them master a new skill! 🍎🍩🧑‍🍳

Today was all about garlic cheddar biscuits and Caesar salad! Student did a great job of making everything from scratch, salad dressing included! 🥗🧀🥬🧄🍽️

Pretzel day in HFA4U and HFN2O! Students did a great job and they quickly realized how different each pretzel shape could be! 🥨🥨🥨

Today was minestrone soup day in HFA4U/C! All leftovers went out to students between lunches. A nice warm treat on a cold day 🥕🌶️🥦🍅🍲 so happy to see students working on their skills and giving back!

Orange Shirt Day began at a commemoration event for the St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake, B.C., where Phyllis Webstadt shared a story about having her orange first-day-of-school shirt taken from her and never seeing it again. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day are reminders to continue meaningful discussions about residential schools and their effect on Indigenous children and families. It serves as a reminder to all survivors that Every Child Matters, even if they are grown up. Please remember to wear an orange shirt to school or work tomorrow and come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

It was kitchen tools charades in HFA4U today! After learning about the various types of equipment, students had to act out how they would use each tool while their partners guessed what it could be. There are some very creative students! 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳🔪⏲️🍳🍴🥣🍽️

Today marks the first meeting of the Massey Baking Club! This is group one and they did a great job and they will be sharing their sweet treats for the Leadership bake sale! Three other groups to go. So thankful for all 100 students that signed up 🍪💙🧡

Everyday I tell my students to “be good, be nice, be kind!” They don’t have to be best friends with everyone, but to treat their peers with the same respect & kindness they would hope to get. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder & help them be the best versions of themselves!

Backpacks for Success through @UnitedWayWE is back! I have been fortunate to help out with this event in the past, and it was wonderful to see how many people they help out. Great opportunity for those needing help preparing with supplies for back to school 🎒📚✏️📓

And just like that, the first day of summer learning is done! So nice to see a new group of future grade 9 @VMMustangs students this morning for Reaching Ahead! We talked about ways of creating an inclusive classroom. Definitely some great ideas! 🧡💙
