“The just-released partisan maps, drawn by Republicans behind closed doors, are a jarring example of the worst kind of politics. Republicans feel like they have the State Courts’ rubber stamp to hand-pick their voters -- instead of giving North Carolinians the power to choose the best representatives for their communities. Diluting our voices to entrench power is a manipulation of our democracy.” - Chair @abreezeclayton
And there you have it. A budget that gives taxpayer money to private schools, make the courts answer to the legislature, destroys public records, creates secret police and depletes revenue. Can’t say it was worth a 3 month delay. The only good thing is Medicaid expansion.

It truly was America at its best.

34 percent of Harvard students are white. 43 percent of those students are either legacies, children of faculty, kin of donors or a recruited athlete. 75 percent of them would not have gotten in if not for special status (National Bureau of Economic Research).
But when in doubt, blame the Black people!
Today's huge win for voting rights advocates in Moore v. Harper is also a promise to this state: if we fight for our courts, we can rein in gerrymandering in North Carolina.
BREAKING: THE PEOPLE WON! In Moore v. Harper, the Supreme Court rejected the radical independent state legislature theory and reaffirmed the most central principle of our democracy: that the people, not politicians, have political power. 1/2
BREAKING: A VICTORY for voters! With a historic ruling in our Moore v. Harper case today, the US Supreme Court stops a radical power grab by #NorthCarolina politicians. This is a huge WIN for American democracy! #ncpol#MoorevHarper
