@data_republican Yeah, I said something about it being tried and failing before and how we needed to stop on standard time in Facebook yesterday... regret.
No one believed me, everyone said it was opinion... just stupid crap.
@RapidResponse47 I dont understand how "undocumented" people could get a loan anyways. Do you know how much documentation I have had to supply every time I have gotten a new loan or refinanced? It's insane! Why is everything so geared towards those who aren't citizens?
I have $30. So does my neighbor.
I spend my $30 on a live chicken. The chicken lays eggs. I eat some eggs and sell the rest. After a few days, I have made enough money to buy another chicken. That new chicken also produces eggs, so then I make money to buy more chickens. Soon, I have a substantial chicken farm, and I'm making a living selling eggs. I have achieved success.
My neighbor, on the other hand, spends his $30 on a pizza. He eats the pizza and now no longer has $30. He does not profit from his initial $30, so he has no success. He loses.
Did I contribute to my neighbor's loss?
@RandPaul I read that one of the dissents gave a congressional path to flipping it because the only reason it went the way it did was a statutory conflict. Find that and act on it. Then work to go back to the constitutional amendment.
@anenglishteachr I havent seen wiring in the building my kids do. But if those kids are into Rockets they need to play Kerbal. Its literally rocket science as a game!
@HippyMomPhD My kids love Splendor. Its one of only a few that I find Im not super reluctant to go play with them. We enjoy castle panic and forbidden island too. All of which are more strategy than math. But you do have to do math in splendor but only adding small numbers to 15.
@RepKeithSelf I agree that SAVE America needs passing but is allowing ballots post marked by election day going to change much? Shouldn't that be a super small percentage? Or are the massive amounts of scam ballots (like we saw in LA) are they post marked after the election?
We make it far too easy for senators in the minority to use the filibuster to kill bills supported by the majority.
The whole idea behind the filibuster has, from the beginning, been to protect and prolong debate—not to cut off debate, forcing the Senate to abandon any bill that doesn’t immediately receive the support of at least 60 senators.
Filibustering is supposed to require far more than opposing cloture.
Especially for bills of exceptional national importance—like the SAVE America Act—senators should be required to hold the floor and speak.
The minute filibustering senators stop doing that, the legislation can and should be passed at a simple-majority threshold.
This is not a radical idea.
This describes what the filibuster is, how it has historically operated, and how it should work today.
Share this message if you agree that the Senate—and the country as a whole—would be well served by a return to this approach.
@jason_howerton When we had recurring strep in our house it was because a sibling who never tested positive was carrying it and reinfecring the rest of us. I did end up with my tonsils out later regardless but it helped with the strep.
@sarahtexe Yup! Its not like he's taking away public schools. He is ensuring all programs that are important are preserved and are in appropriate wheelhouses. The most important thing is putting control of schools closer to home.
I once had a student who got triggered by a person saying the word “r*pe” in class. And went on a tirade about how people are so insensitive about sexual abuse. And had to leave the classroom.
When she got back, I immediately went into damage control mode and was like “I am so sorry this happened, plz lmk how I can help to avoid triggers, give warnings, etc”
And she was like “no I’m sorry for freaking out lol. My dad molested me as a kid and whenever someone says the r word I freak out for a second then I calm down. I’ll be fine. It’s something I gotta learn to deal with. I can’t expect the whole world to adjust to my needs just because I went through a horrible thing.”
I was utterly disarmed by her response. And began wondering why we began encouraging the opposite kind of response.
@EvanLuthra@Tesla@teslaenergy@Tesla_AI I see using their super chargers bc thats their power. But the owners are paying for the electricity to charge their car. If Tesla uses that and drains their car battery requiring them to pay more to charge it then thats not OK with me. I want a Tesla but don't have one yet.
