@TylerKepner These always impress me but there's something about pulling Solano for Silver Slugger that is making my head spin, no wonder we all just collectively blocked 2020 out of our memories
@JoshuaHowsam In hindsight, is the situation here that he was badly fooling hitters for like three months with one really good pitch, which was A) never in the zone out of the hand, and B) easy to identify once you figured that out? It all got so bad so fast with guys laying off everything
In 1973, if you were 19 years old, it was imprtant to look like a guy who has already been married three times but got to keep the van through all the divorces
If we're being generous, I've heard of four of these people, but that's only if William Prince and Prince William are the same guy. Otherwise I'm clocking in at three

@JoshuaHowsam Heh... not saying it's a *charitable* explanation. But I'm going with the "he's a human being, who had to get up early on Sunday to manage for the 10th day in a row, asked his backup catcher to do ONE THING to keep his backup-backup catcher off his feet, and he couldn't do it"
@JoshuaHowsam Yep... which goes to the point of: maybe it *was* meant to be a full day off for Valenzuela, but Schneider just got pissed off after the one-pitch AB in that spot. Maybe at Heineman, maybe at himself for letting him hit, maybe a little from column A and a little from column B.
@JoshuaHowsam I really wonder if Schneider just got a bit heated and made an angry decision to yank Heineman after the weak AB... since none of it seems particularly rational, maybe it was just emotion in the moment. Hence the lack of effort explain beyond "manager's decision".
@RobSilver My old man recreational rugby team is called the Ottawa Senators, but in fairness the club took the name maybe ten years before the hockey team came back. But still, don't tell them, in case they're litigious...
@jamesfburnett@ctvottawa@JamesValcke Yes. Just slow down. There were a million signs telling you that the most conspicuous camera you've ever encountered was coming up. Again -- this was a voluntary tax on stupid people. Or if not stupid, then just not paying attention, which might be worse.
@jamesfburnett@ctvottawa@JamesValcke Just pointing out that speeding in a school zone did indeed result in a fatality. Speeding makes them less safe. I was fully in favour of a voluntary tax on stupid people who speed through them. There was a foolproof way to avoid the fines.
