LUTNICK: Actually, that's not usually how it works. When you have the greatest philanthropist, you just need him to agree. He is the most credible person in the world.
You might notice a recurring pattern: the president notices something where the status quo is suboptimal but manageable, charges in without much of a plan, ignores warnings, things go awry, and he leaves a much worse, much more complicated mess than before he started. This pattern has occurred in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. trade with Canada, the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, measles vaccinations…
...and now, the Kennedy Center.
There is no equivalent in Democratic politics to what Fox + right wing media does for Trump (and by extension, Republicans). They lie to their audience, constantly, about everything, which creates this alternate world where up is down and black is white.
So far this World Cup has been a great reminder that we make too many assumptions about one another, and that the vast majority of humanity is awesome.
It's been pretty damn refreshing, honestly.
Watching Fox News assure viewers the Iran war is going SUPER well and Trump is a total stud is like watching the same network assure viewers that Dominion Voting Systems rigged the 2020 election and Trump was the winner.
