@Messanger14@nikicaga Then I just don't get what you said about "fourth or fifth example of the same 'subversion'". How is Dany defeating Cersei any different from fAegon doing it? Or from Renly vs Stannis? They're all characters fighting. Dany is a 'player' just like the rest of them
@Messanger14@nikicaga I don't really see how these are "villain vs villain". ASOIAF is an ensemble story. If you call Renly or Stannis villains, villains to whom? We can't look at the saga from a Dany-centered perspective, even if she is more important. This is just characters fighting, aka a story
@Messanger14@nikicaga Also, like you said, Stannis killing Renly was a subversion just as fAegon killing Cersei would be. Just because we are used to these beats from ASOIAF doesn't change the fact it's a subversion from how typically fantasy builds stories
@Messanger14@nikicaga Euron is definitely set to be super impactful in the future (especially vs Dany), but he literally only showed up in AFFC. He is more threatening, yes, but Cersei has been an active antagonist from day one. Hence why I said she's the closest to a main villain
@Messanger14@nikicaga I think he means because Dany is the "main hero" and Cersei is the closest there is to a "main villain" (excluding the Others, and considering her active role since book 1), so it's expected Dany would be the one to defeat her, and not a character that was introduced one book ago
