Good morning. Today we reflect on this quote from Kenya's third President, Mwai Kibaki, whose government was keen on making education universal for all children
We hired a new VP named Michael Lee.
Unfortunately we already have a Michael Lee.
He works in the warehouse.
He's been here 11 years.
New VP gets:
[email protected]
He immediately messages IT.
“Can you move the other Michael to michael.lee2 and give me michael.lee?”
No.
He asks HR.
HR asks me if we can “prioritize seniority.”
I explain that the warehouse Michael has eleven years of email history tied to that address and changing it because someone with a nicer title arrived would be insane.
VP reluctantly keeps the 2.
Warehouse Michael finds out.
Changes his Teams display name to:
Michael Lee (Original)
By Friday the VP is being referred to as Sequel Mike.
He has asked IT to intervene.
Unfortunately nickname management is outside our support scope.

Africa still has no permanent seat on the Security Council.
A 21st century Security Council without permanent African representation is unjust & indefensible.
We must reform the Council so that it reflects today’s world with the legitimacy and effectiveness that today’s challenges demand.
Scientists had tried and failed for decades to cross Africa's own rice species with Asia's, until a Sierra Leonean breeder named Monty Jones did what the textbooks said couldn't be done.
African rice, Oryza glaberrima, was domesticated independently in the Inner Niger Delta around 3,000 years ago. It's tough, drought-resistant, and disease-resistant, but low-yielding. Asian rice yields far more but struggles with Africa's harsh growing conditions. The two species are genetically distant enough that crossing them reliably produces sterile offspring, a wall that had stopped other researchers cold. In 1994, working at the West Africa Rice Development Association, Jones and his team broke through it, using anther culture and embryo rescue to produce the first fertile hybrids, later named NERICA, New Rice for Africa.
By 2017, NERICA adoption had lifted an estimated 8 million people out of poverty across 16 countries. In 2004, Jones became the first African ever to win the World Food Prize. He didn't import a solution. He fixed the one Africa already had.
Some lives are spent enlarging a nation’s moral imagination. @MarthaKarua, yours has been a life of principled contest, constitutional fidelity and uncommon courage.
You have reminded Kenya that liberation is daily work, insisting that power remains accountable, that the law protects the vulnerable and that women’s leadership is central and not incidental to democracy.
In Fanon’s words, every generation must discover and fulfil its mission. You have done so with courage, clarity and steadfastness.
Happy 69th Birthday, Hon. Martha Karua, SC. May you be granted health, joy and renewed strength for the work of building the Kenya our Constitution promises.
Today we started the tarmacking of Meru Road, including the section that runs inside Gikomba Market, giving the residents of Majengo and the traders of Gikomba and their customers a smooth, mud-free passage at last. The work was delivered through the Kamukunji KeRRA Constituency Roads Fund.
This is the seventh road my office has secured funding for in the last twelve months in Pumwani/Shauri Moyo Ward alone. It follows Digo, Lamu, Quarry, Muinami, Ahero and Lorian Roads — 6.1 kilometres in all, at a cost of some Ksh 203 million.
Road by road, we are improving infrastructure and changing lives in Kamukunji.
Africa’s future must be shaped by Africans, for Africans.
And the world must stand with Africa as it strives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals & build inclusive prosperity.

Unloading of farm inputs - certified maize seeds and fertilizer - underway at Maragwa NCPB Depot in preparation for the short rains season.
This year, distribution to our farmers will digital.
Murang'a County through partnership is now converting organic waste into organic fertilizer at Gikono, Maragua - Wempa Ward.
The organic fertilizer is now available for our farmers. Creating jobs, turning waste into wealth for a more productive and sustainable Murang'a.
The world faces three existential threats:
Runaway artificial intelligence.
The climate crisis.
And the intolerable deepening of inequalities.
Next week, world leaders are coming together at #UNGA.
My message to them:
International cooperation is more important than ever.
" Nairobi presented a compelling and emotional bid, and taking the World Athletics Championships to Africa for the first time will be historic. Kenya is one of the great athletics nations. It was important that the World Athletics Championships should come to Africa when we had the right host, the right bid and the right circumstances. Nairobi has demonstrated emphatically that this is their moment."

South Africa has the right idea to diversify its export markets and laugh at Trump's tariffs. Despite a US 42.5% tariff on SA goods (30% + 12.5% for SA's "forced labour"), SA agricultural exports are up 10% over last year. Africa is the main market, followed by the Middle East (24%), EU (21%) and UK (10%). U.S. down to just 5%. SA's main agricultural exports are citrus, apples/pears, maize, wine, avocados, mangoes, wool, sugar, fruit juices, grapes and nuts.
This is why we respect Ethiopia, a great neighbor. Ethiopian athletics legend Haile Gebrselassie congratulated us for winning the bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships in Nairobi. He says it is a win for Africa and I totally agree 👍🏾
