Our @BookwormsRW routines even work with non-fiction books! We read the book “How Does a Waterfall Become Electricity?” and started off learning new vocabulary words, then applied that knowledge to answer a writing prompt! 💦⚡️🔌💡@SoRclassroom@goyenfoundation@CurriculumMatrs
Even though we started reading our new book Bud, Not Buddy, our @BookwormsRW routines stayed the same! 📖
Learned two new vocabulary words and practiced using them in super sentences! 📝✅

Chatter 🗣️, excitement 🤗 and applause👏🏼 as we finish reading The Westing Game!
After we finished reading, we had a final discussion on the book.
Stay tuned as we start our next book, Bud Not Buddy 📖!

This might not look like anything important, but in reality these anchor charts are very useful to Ss!
During @BookwormsRW shared reading, Ss help add content to the anchor charts, which helps keep track of what we are reading!📖
@SoRclassroom@goyenfoundation@CurriculumMatrs
After each day’s reading, Ss answer text-based oral comprehension questions. Many of the @BookwormsRW questions begin with how or why, which allows for deeper understanding of the text. 📖
🗣️Listen to the Ss thoughtful discussions!

@smorrisey I have used this passage as well with my students @smorrisey and I know the exact question you are talking about! My Ss struggled with it too! I had to specifically teach what was meant by diagram and what “new information” meant!
Ss are provided with a “first focus” which helps Ss to read for a meaning-oriented purpose. 📖
➡️Listen to today’s focus on how The Westing Game characters have changed!🕵🏻
✅set first focus
✅choral read text
