“Giant Steps” by John Coltrane is often called one of the most feared songs in jazz.
Its rapid three-key cycle was so demanding that even top players struggled with it at the session.
Coltrane originally developed the tune as a personal exercise.
“Accidents Will Happen” by Elvis Costello & The Attractions was inspired by “Anyone Who Had a Heart.” The song was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and first recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1963.
