I’m not kidding: those who delegate all their writing, thinking and creative expression to machines are going to wake up one day and discover that they can no longer write or think. You need to make your own art. You need to keep your brain working. You need to stay human.
The point is this: there are way more people who love South Africa & want it to work than those who don’t. This is across racial groups. Your choice not to will not stop those people from striving, building bridges, finding commonalities, working hard, and fixing the errors of the past. Ever. South Africa will live on. Nay, it will THRIVE with extra impetus and motivation provided by the loud voices that want it to fail.
There is an Athol Fugard quote I read the other day about South Africa that rings forever true: “I think the aloe is one of South Africa’s most powerful, beautiful and celebratory symbols. It survives out there in the wild when everything else is dried.” ♥️🇿🇦

Just read a crazy judgment on sentencing. Accused 1 (wife) and accused 2 (husband) are married under customary law. In October 2016, accused 2 was charged with the rape of a 19 year old woman. After the rape, the victim’s family assaulted accused 2, took photos of him naked and posted them on Facebook.
