CAF have overturned the result of the 2025 AFCON final declaring that Senegal forfeited the match after leaving the pitch.

Morocco are awarded the title through a 3-0 win.

Senegal left the pitch after a late penalty decision, stayed off for around 14 minutes, then returned. CAF ruled that this conduct fell under Articles 82 and 84, upheld Morocco’s protest, and awarded Morocco a 3-0 forfeit win.

Rules must be respected. A final should always be decided on the pitch, but when the rules are not applied in the moment, correcting it later is still better than ignoring them. The referee and CAF failed on the spot, yet better late than never. #CAF #Morocco #AFCON

@GMJacobAagaard @jwschieveld Completely agree, checking with Fide Management if it’s best to enforce it in the last round of the day or it’s not necessary and make it clear for the nest day, especially Magnus stated that it was a genuine mistake and the next day it will not happen.
