Even with more than twice as many seats per flight the 747 (~430 seats) vs 767 (~190 seats) load factor’s held up pretty well on the old STL-LGW route

Comparing STL to some other nearby cities that were also dehubbed in past 25 years, STL had much less of a drop in O&D in the aftermath, and it also has not grown quite as much in the past decade (since those lows) %-wise.

St. Louis Lambert's (@flystl) US domestic O&D rank has fallen from 20th in 1995 down to 37th in 2024, but the good news is over the last 6 yrs it has mostly maintained/improved its ranking.

Took an updated look at STL's domestic O&D numbers

In 2024, they got back to an almost all time high (10.5M), just behind 2000 (10.8M). But they have been stubbornly flat for the past 2.5 decades though.

For Newark domestic destinations, in 2024 service averaged adding 1.35 available seats for every additional O&D passengers on routes w/ at least 50k (both ways) of 2024 O&D. Overall, O&D capture roughly 80% of all domestic passengers with the rest being connecting traffic

@Jacob__Kirn Very interesting to see STL-Frankfurt now up to 34k yearly travelers. From what I could find 2019 this was only around 8k & all of Germany was only about 20k.

I’m sure some is siphoned from other European destinations, but still seems like a lot of induced demand to FRA!

@AviationStl Mostly stayed in cities, but Tuscany is great. Nearish by is Côte d’Azur/French Riveria which is real nice too and similar vibes with a little more mountains. Lots of smaller towns/mid-size cities to stay close to things to do

@AviationStl @AlexMcClure90 The mainline flight I trust more for on time over the smaller planes to EWR, once you are in the terminal, transfer (even between C to A) is not too bad even with stroller if your bringing one. But yeah, one small morning storm can back up the entire day
