The Myth Of The Unpredictable Olympic Trials
"The common narrative around the Olympic Trials is that they’re thrilling and exciting because of the upsets, especially compared to other countries where there are selection committees or discretionary spots.
However, the data shows that the final qualifications are largely predictable... In almost 90% of cases, the eventual qualifiers placed either first or second in their semifinal heat."

Teamwork makes the dream work ✨
@NDXCTF teammates Olivia Markwzich and Sophie Novak worked together in the early laps of the #NCAATF steeplechase semifinal, and the Irish were rewarded with two spots in the final as Markezich qualified in 9:50.08 and Novak clocked a 9:50.18.
A look at Parker Valby's 10,000m race at the NCAA Regional Championship
📈 "I thought maybe the goal was to run a really hard, fast mile on tired legs to practice for the Olympic Trials where the race will likely be very fast at the end. But, it also could have been to get her comfortable with running around people instead of by herself at the front of races."
