A 2018 study released by Tourism and Recreation Research at UM found that "visitor spending" supported $1.1 billion in labor income, the SAME AMOUNT as Montana's mining industry; but "tourism" jobs pay an average of just $19,000/yr, compared to $89,000/yr for #mining jobs!
