BREAKING NEWS: Several homes are said to be burning as the rapidly expanding Old Trails Fire advances eastward into Spokane, Washington, according to scanner traffic.

Driven by extreme winds and red-flag fire weather, it rapidly expanded to around 2,000+ acres, jumped the Spokane River, and pushed into residential neighborhoods of Spokane itself.

Heavy winds in Spokane County are driving the destructive Old Trails Fire. The fire is spreading from the crown of trees, making it much harder for firefighters to get a handle on it.
