June 2026 PPI report 📊
Producer prices (PPI tracks what businesses pay each other before goods reach consumers) fell -0.3% in June, the biggest monthly drop in 14 months.
That follows an upward revision to May, which now shows +0.6%.
Core PPI (strips out food, energy, and trade services since those jump around a lot) rose +0.1% for the month and is up +5.1% over the past year — so while the headline number cooled, the underlying pressure is still running hot.
What drove the drop:
Energy prices fell -6.4%, led by a steep decline in gasoline. Food prices also moved lower.
Together these offset ongoing price increases tied to AI-related tech goods and services, which have been running higher.
Bottom line: wholesale inflation eased on the surface in June, mainly because of cheaper energy, but core prices show underlying inflation pressure hasn't gone away.

June 2026 CPI report 📊
Overall prices (headline CPI) dipped -0.4% from the month before, but are still up 3.5% from a year ago.
Core prices (this strips out food and energy since those swing around a lot month to month) stayed flat at 0.0%, up 2.6% for the year.
What actually moved the number:
Energy dropped -5.7% for the month, the single biggest reason prices fell overall. Inside that: gasoline -9.7%, fuel oil -9.2%, electricity -1.0%.
Even with June's drop, energy is still up 15.7% over the past year, and gas alone is up 26.7%.
Shelter (rent and housing costs, usually the stickiest part of inflation) only rose +0.1%, its smallest monthly increase since January 2021.
Rent itself rose 0.1%, and hotel/lodging prices actually fell -2.3%.
Food stayed mild, +0.2% for the month.
Eggs rose 4.3% and dairy rose 1.2%, but coffee fell -2.0%.
A few other notable drops: car insurance -2.0%, phone/internet services -1.5%, clothing -0.6%.
Bottom line: energy cooling off and rent finally slowing down are doing most of the work pulling headline inflation down this month.

🗓️ Day-by-Day Breakdown
Mon: Leading Indicators (a monthly report that tries to predict where the economy is headed next) — also a short-term Treasury bill auction, which is more of a background bond-market event.
Tue: ADP Employment Report (a private estimate of how many jobs the US added last month) — traders watch this as an early hint before the official government jobs report.
Treasury also announces plans for a "buyback" (when the government repurchases some of its own debt) — this is more technical and doesn't usually move stocks much.
Wed: MBA Mortgage Applications (how many people applied for home loans that week) — a quick read on housing demand.
Also the Atlanta Fed's Business Inflation Expectations (a survey asking businesses what they think inflation will do), plus a 20-Year Bond Auction (the government selling long-term debt) — bond auctions can move interest rates if demand is weak or strong.
Thu: Jobless Claims (how many people filed for unemployment last week) — one of the most closely watched weekly numbers, since a sudden jump can signal the job market is weakening. Also the Chicago Fed National Activity Index (a broad scorecard on how the whole economy is doing), a 10-Year TIPS Auction (bonds that adjust with inflation), and several routine Treasury debt announcements/auctions — these last ones are mostly background bond-market plumbing, not big market movers.
Fri: PMI Composite Flash (an early "temperature check" on whether businesses are growing or shrinking) — this can shift market mood, especially if it surprises.
Also New Home Sales (how many new houses sold last month) — a read on the housing market and consumer confidence.

BREAKING: Pakistan's Prime Minister releases an official statement on the peace deal between the US and Iran which Pakistan announces has now been reached.
Full statement:
"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED.
Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland. We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement.
I would also especially thank the visionary leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Türkiye for their immense contributions in this regard.
With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony."
BREAKING: The US and Iran have reached a peace deal to end their nearly four-month war, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif says.
Both sides are declaring the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Pakistan served as mediator.
Sharif: "Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED." Official signing ceremony set for Friday, June 19 in Switzerland.
A 14-page draft outlines the US lifting oil sanctions and Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days. The waterway has been effectively closed since late February, driving energy prices and stagflation fears. US inflation hit 4.2% in May, a three-year high.
The Fed is now expected to raise rates before year-end, per CME FedWatch.
