We hosted the S6 class of St. Aloysius Girls S.S. Kitanga for a study tour at the Mushroom Training & Resource Centre.They explored the full mushroom value chain and learned hands-on oyster & button mushroom cultivation processes. Empowering the next generation in agribusiness.
A young lady from Mbarara,Charity successfully completed a 5-day mushroom cultivation training at MTRC, Kabale (16–20 March 2026). She gained hands-on skills in production, disease control, and agribusiness—empowering young ladies like her to build sustainable livelihoods.
In Feb 2026, MTRC hosted a team from Technical University of Zvolen, Slovakia under the Erasmus+ project. Led by Prof. Martin Pavlik, they checked experiments on spent substrate, wild mushroom domestication, and trained us on mushroom soup recipes.Two weeks of knowledge exchange.
Honored to host AAIN CEO Prof. Alex Ariho at MTRC. He toured our training facilities, spawn lab, composting unit, solar driers, accommodation and grow rooms. Impressed by our community impact and readiness as one of the 25 SIYEP anchor incubators.
In partnership with TUZVO, Slovakia, MTRC has successfully domesticated wild mushrooms from Uganda & Slovakia. 80+ species colonized local substrates, nearly half fruiting. MTRC is shaping the future of mushroom cultivation—seriously, sustainably, and globally.
MTRC trained the Rubuguri Women Healthy Concern Group on 27 Nov 2025 with support from BMCT. The 28 members learned grow-room management, pest control, and value addition. We recommended a solar dryer, improved infrastructure & mentorship to boost sustainable mushroom farming. 🍄
MTRC proudly participated in Uganda’s 1st National Mushroom Trade Show (27–30 Nov, Mukono). The event brought together mushroom farmers nationwide. Supported by GIZ, we showcased production, training & value addition. Honored by visits from key leaders and partners. 🍄🌱
🚀 Big breakthrough at MTRC! Our Button Mushroom Project is a success, moving us into the commercialisation phase using our automated pasteurisation chamber from the 🇳🇱 Netherlands.
