Our Muck Maps for @UKSustain , @ciwf and @friends_earth reveal the spread of chicken and pig muck across the UK and the areas that may be at most risk of nutrient pollution 🗺️💩
We've calculated up to 33,450 tonnes of manure is produced by UK factory farms per day!
Want to take action? Campaigners are urging @AngelaRayner to address the (ongoing) growth of factory farms in upcoming planning reforms. Add your voice to the clean-up call 💩🧽🫧
We’ve calculated the parliamentary constituencies with the most muck produced by factory farms: these areas are the most likely to be impacted by river pollution from muck spreading 🐔💩🐷💩

Hi @MPGeorgeFreeman we’ve found that 875 tonnes of muck is produced by factory farms in Mid Norfolk every day. The fifth most of any constituency in the UK.
Alongside our friends at @friends_earth and @UKSustain we’ve mapped out the pollution caused by slurry and manure from factory farms.
View our interactive "muck map" to see how much slurry from factory farms is being spread in your local area ➡️ https://t.co/ZKTZa6OCzx
BREAKING: "British rivers filled with almost 34,000 tonnes of toxic farming waste".
Alongside @UKSustain and @friends_earth we’ve mapped out the pollution caused by slurry and manure from factory farms.

We produced this research for @UKSustain , @friends_earth and @ciwf . 🤓 All areas of England are in nutrient surplus, river health is declining across the UK and agricultural waste is the most common form of pollution preventing river recovery.
The Severn, Great Ouse, Ouse (Yorkshire), Trent, Norfolk Broads and the Wye top the list of river catchments being polluted by factory farms. Find your area on our interactive map here:

Our Muck Maps reveal for the first time the spread of factory farm muck across the UK. We found that up to 33,450 tonnes of manure is produced in the UK every day! When this is spread on over-saturated soils, it washes into waterways and causes pollution 💩🐟
Method: We indicate fields most likely to be spread with muck - using farm locations from DEFRA, livestock populations from @ciwf , and a literature review into transport distances from factory farms to farmers’ fields. Field locations from @UK_CEH More: https://t.co/Ue4nvnxrjv

Research we published with @UKSustain earlier this year indicates where the dominant factory farming agribusinesses operate across the UK. These are the companies that contract the factory farms and supply the supermarkets that you shop at. https://t.co/SpmT1RCj8H
