As a designer, I’ve been wondering: what does AI mean for the future of our craft?
As a tool builder, I couldn’t leave that question unanswered.
The answer is Elyx. And it’s coming soon.

Remember when we said auto layout was coming to Sketch? It’s here. It’s called Stacks, and it’s part of our biggest release ever — out now.
There’s a lot to cover, so buckle up and we’ll give you a tour.
Also, stick around for a surprise at the end of the thread 👀
Let’s go ↓
If you're a community-driven product, operating remotely, I got a rare lead for a Community and/or Events position (with strong recommendations) who can help your team grow your reach, DMs are open.
I was toying around with a Swift DSL for GraphQL queries that mimics QL syntax. Something like
MyQL.query(named: "HeroQuery") {
Hero {
.name
.friends
}
}
But type inference does not work inside result builders. All alternatives seem considerably less appealing.
@amyruthworrall @PossiblyAlan I always use self, except maybe in single line functions. It prevents sneaky refactoring bugs, and makes code review mich simpler.
"Objective-C without the C" was a good keynote line but it's a bad description of Swift.
We designed a language that was closer to Objective-C without the C. It wasn't good enough to make up for the costs. Adoption of a new language had to be "go big or go home".
@olebegemann Possibly my least favorite part of Swift. Would be much nicer to have all these performance related implementation details hidden. I know there are examples that actually take advantage of them, but they always seem to be a bit contrived.
I'm so proud of what the team pulled off here with bringing Live Collaboration to Sketch and our native desktop app! 😁 The visible part, the cursors and the user avatars are just the tip of the iceberg, so let's talk about the rest a bit. 1/17
@pieteromvlee 3) Then we worked on the "details", and it all got complicated again: new clients migrating the document data, old clients uploading patches, non-coediting team members doing a full upload in the middle of a session, oh my!
