A 🧵 on #AIDS in the 80s/90s:
I was 15 when I first had sex with a man.
I’d snuck off to London’s Heaven nightclub with the express intent of ridding myself of my ‘gay virginity’, a goal I achieved easily with a visiting American photographer.

Seeing some news (finally) about Long Covid behaving like HIV.
I have been HIV positive since 2007 and am very lucky to have a very good doctor, an HIV specialist, so I asked him about it.
Our country subjects people in need of food assistance to a litany of conditions to qualify, yet refuses to place a *single* condition on billions of public funds to prevent enabling an atrocity.
It is appalling. Thousands of children, dead. This is the result of “no red lines.”
Cutting off all communication to a population of 2.2 million is unacceptable. Journalists, medical professionals, humanitarian efforts, and innocents are all endangered.
I do not know how such an act can be defended. The United States has historically denounced this practice.
Two million views so far on this video clip of my appearance on @MSNBC last night.
Glad people are interested in understanding what Gaza is, what it’s endured, and who actually lives there (lots of kids!) - and not just conflating the whole place with Hamas.
My mother, #CorettaScottKing, said, “It doesn’t matter how strong your opinions are. If you don’t use your power for positive change, you are, indeed, part of the problem.”
Today, 75,000 Kaiser Permanente workers walked off the job, becoming the largest healthcare strike in US history.
I stand in solidarity with them in their fight. ✊🏾
I'm honored to accept Gov. @GavinNewsom's nomination to be U.S. Senator for a state I have made my home and honored by his trust in me to serve the people of California and this great nation. 🧵
Here’s what went down: we just won a clean 45 day gov extension, stripped GOP’s earlier 30% cuts to Social Security admin etc, staved off last minute anti-immigrant hijinks, and averted shutdown (for now).
People will get paychecks and MTG threw a tantrum on the way out. Win-win
New York is experiencing disastrous flooding and a Republican shutdown means the National Flood Insurance Program will expire tomorrow night.
This is lunacy. A bipartisan deal was agreed to months ago. Dems held up their end. GOP needs to stop playing games and follow through.
First President in modern American history to join a union picket line.
That’s in no small part thanks to a modern surge in worker organizing and record public support of unions.
Keep going ✊🏽
