Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the assassination of Ninoy Aquino on 21 August 1983 under the Marcos dictatorship.
A serious history of this period, using new archival material and the vast journalistic record, remains to be written.
Here is one fact that I think should be noted. In 1975, while Aquino was unjustly imprisoned by the martial law dictatorship, then Archbishop Jaime Sin, future Cardinal, acted as a informant for the military dictatorship, secretly reporting on the family conversations of the Aquinos and Dioknos in Fort Bonifacio.
Sin's reports were typed up and transmitted directly to Gen. Fabian Ver and the dictator, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Note here, in this document from the Presidential Commission on Good Government, that Sin "concocted a pretext" to leave the Aquino celebration of Aurora Aquino's birthday, and meet with commanding officer Col. Josephus Ramas.
SIn endorsed martial law, and praised the "humane treatment" of the prisoners. These were men denied due process and imprisoned on trumped up charges. Sin said the Marcos regime was "bending over backwards" to accomodate them.
There should be more fashion shows with chairs at the end of runways, for the model to sit on and stand up again, just to show us how functional the attire is.
Me: happily shopping for home decor.
My mind: "people tolerate their prisons better when they are allowed to choose the color of the paint"
My brain's bringing me down, but at least it's fun to listen to

@tomcat_TX @milladeema @sandyreadsalot2@leoknyc777 @RetroAgent12 Eh? Isn't that just Chinese hardwood routing their products through Vietnam and Indonesia instead? That's just bypassing tariffs through middlemen.
@AI_EmeraldApple@QIncorrect@reddit_lies Funnily enough, that trait is shared with actual socially-awkward but intelligent people, who tend to be the more knowledgeable redditors.
@signulll Time. All the technology is to save time doing what we must do, to have time doing what we want to do.
In that respect, the 20hrs/wk hunter-gatherer societies are the wealthiest...for now.
But we must invest time to keep our way of life stable. And their lifestyle isn't.
@elonmusk This isn't the Age of Exploration. The Iberians got to the Americas and got a lot of gold. We got to the moon and found no way to profit off it.
@Psifour@Babygravy9 True. Yachts need staff. Staff have to drive to the marina to get to work. He should've built a better public transport system to get the poor people out of the road so his staff could get to work faster.
