FACTS; WHY PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS MUST BE CLOSED DURING RAMADAN FASTING PERIOD IN NIGERIA/NORTH.
It’s not easy for children to exercise Ramadan period in school, imagine the adult ones in varsities when you go out for 8-5 lecture and you don’t have money to eat in cafeteria, we comeback hostel so tired and hungry not even during fasting.
But those little children in boarding school are going through a lot to exercise Ramadan fasting in school, when fasting you need a nutritional foods that can make you healthy and build your body… I know and you know that our government can’t provide such foods for the children.
The weather here in North West and North East regions are very hot, and 99% of people living in the region are muslims including the students, teachers and other workers in the schools how do you expect them to carried out school activities while the sun is hot and they are fasting?
In education, for effective teaching and learning the students and teachers must be prepared and ready for learning and teaching…. Talking from experience I didn’t see any readiness to teach while the teacher and students are feeling hungry and tired, this is how it’s during fasting period.
Fasting is mandatory for all Muslims who reach the age of puberty and that is 10-15 years, so I strongly commend those Governors that closes the schools during fasting period to make it easier for Muslims which allowed them to focus on their ibadah to worship Allah.
