@ACEconPolicy Can we get a confirmation regarding this rumored $ 5 million purchase price? Either way, this feels like the first shoe to drop of a ACDEVCO-like project in the works.
This guy was never serious about doing anything with the old Hilton. He made a bad bet on a 45 year old property that needed a $100+ million dollar investment just to get up to code. Let’s figure out a way to get this torn down and absorbed into ACDEVCO Stockton expansion.
Citing "corruption" in city government that he says has frustrated his development plans, the owner of the former Atlantic Club casino is putting part of the property up for sale. https://t.co/x5lCoi7SmC
Full sprint towards getting the new Ocean City Police Substation complete in time for August. Beware, unruly boardwalk patrons, our carpenters are moving fast.
Question to $JPM CEO Jamie Dimon: " If you had to pick one big risk that keeps you up at night right now, what is it?"
His response: "It's geopolitics. I think we're at a crossroads...about the future of the free & democratic world. That to me is the only important thing"
More tax abatements. AC needs to follow Philadelphia’s 10 year tax abatement policy and go even bigger for projects that exceed a certain value - res/commercial/mixed use. This is an obvious policy that this town needs leadership on.
Bart Blatstein's $100 million Island Waterpark has asked for a five-year property tax abatement on improvements there, and City Council could vote on it later this month. https://t.co/HUxad3DkyZ
At this time last year, Quinyon Mitchell was making a statement during Senior Bowl week after an awesome Toledo career.
Now he's making game-clinching INTs to help send his team to the Super Bowl. Hasn't disappointed one bit.
@ACEconPolicy Jim, love your commentary but any notion that the old Hilton can be renovated and deliver a ROI is fantasy. The building hasn’t received a dollar of investment for close to 10 years. We’re talking >$200 million endeavor. It’s a tear down. NJ needs to subsidize its demolition.
@harrisonfinberg 20 year tax abatements, waive all construction permit costs at established project size threshold, more EDA grants, more meds and eds, more residential development, there is a path.
@ACEconPolicy Building is in bad shape. Owner hasn’t put a cent towards it in over 5 years. MEP systems probably need 100% replacement. More of the facade blows off every storm. How much longer can city let owner sit on this property without dev plan? It’s a complete tear down imo.
@harrisonfinberg He is 10x the political talent of anyone else on that stage in Philly tn. I think the fact that nobody likes to hire someone more likeable and talented as their #2 also had something to do with it.
@harrisonfinberg Noticeable change in the 6th Ward between Ventnor and Albany Ave. Tons of houses being renovated and sold. It’s starting to creep into Ducktown - new residential construction happening. Shore housing market really makes it hard for AC to screw this up but not holding my breath.
Beyond grateful to be leading a project that will truly make a difference for AC residents and stakeholders. These are the type of projects we look for. Time to get busy!
An iconic but neglected baseball field in Atlantic City is getting a makeover. The 75-year-old Pop Llyod Stadium has sat dormant for years and now thanks to a more than $5.5 million renovation it will become a multisport complex. @tedgreenbergnbc has more.
