Today at State Convention, Kaitlyn was recognized as the winner in her SAE and went on stage. Then Nick and Kaitlyn, parents, and Mr Walker went to the state awards lunch. After lunch was State Degrees! (Post those pics when we get them!) @MTZ_HSPrincipal @TRoundcount
Yesterday, our Ag Mechanics team competed at the State completion. As a team they placed 13th! Everyone placed well in their areas. We want to give a huge shout out to Nick Scherer who placed FIRST IN THE STATE in land surveying!!! Congrats Nick! @MTZ_HSPrincipal @TRoundcount
Tonight our Ag Mechanics team competed at the section contest. Our team placed 1st which means they move onto the State CDE next week!

Tonight was the Section 16 Banquet! Kaitlyn and Karlie were recognized for winning their areas at section proficiencies. Kaitlyn was also recognized for winning both district and state as well.
Lindsey and Kaitlyn acted as the MTZ delegates for section elections while both Shelby and Meela ran for section office. While Meela unfortunately didn't make it, we are pleased to announce that Shelby Miller will serve as the 23-24 Section 16 VP!

Last night hosted 400+ judges and members for the District 4 FFA Proficiency Awards. Members from all across our district competed with their record book by submitting them and then undergoing an interview, including our own Kaitlyn Crowley and Karlie Hoffman.

π Kaitlyn won her area of Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance and will advance to State on March 25th!!!

On the road again for our 3rd contest of the week! Thus time we headed to Champaign for our State Meats Evaluation CDE. Good luck to these guys as they compete today!
Thursday, we traveled to Richland for our section Vet Science contest. Students did a number of practicum and some math. In the end, they placed 3rd as a team, with Lindsey taking 7th overall individual! We had multiple other team members in the 10-20 overall range as well!
Tonight we hosted theFood Science CDE at Mt Zion! Our teams competed against others in the section to create a product, ID aromas, complete math and customer problems, and did triangle tests. Our 1st team placed 3rd in the section with Kaitlyn placing 8th and Lindsey placing 9th!

To qualify for this degree members must be enrolled in agriculture courses for 2 years, 3 years as an FFA member, and have at least earned $1,500 through their (SAE) while maintaining an active role in their community and holding leadership positions.
On Friday, our very own Lindsey Scherer and Kaitlyn Crowley interviewed for their State FFA Degree, an honor only 2-3% of Illinois FFA Members achieve. It is with great honor that we announce that they are BOTH being recommended to Illinois FFA to receive their State Degree.
