It is unfortunate to read that some local government chairmen have rejected the Supreme Court's decision, which mandated that the federal government send local government funds directly to their accounts. Those chairmen are now asking the federal government to continue sending their money through state governments. Thankfully, the decision is final and upheld by our highest court, and it cannot be overturned by mere protests from local government officials. Any chairman who is not comfortable with the decision should resign and allow a progressive leader to take over.
In our bid to boost healthcare provision in Kano, I officially inaugurated the first round of the 2024 Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Week (MNCHW).
MNCHW aims to improve healthcare indices through focused preventive and curative interventions that enable mothers and children to thrive and develop.
The week-long event provides an opportunity to deliver essential health services to mothers, newborns, and children via the existing health system, reinforcing the free maternal and child health services available at Primary Health Centers and Secondary hospitals in the state.
The Kano State Government remains steadfast in implementing health programs aimed at improving the lives of its citizens. This includes a strong commitment to Nutrition Promotion Programs, Polio Eradication, and enhancements in Routine Immunization.
Our administration remains committed to reducing maternal and child mortality rates and controlling preventable diseases such as Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs), Malaria, HIV, and Tuberculosis. - AKY

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of flagging-off the 2024 Tree Planting Campaign, at Kwankwasiyya City, Kano.
Emphasizing the role trees play in preserving ecology, the campaign aims to plant over 3 million trees, which distribution has commenced to various communities across Kano State.
I also used the occasion to issue a stern warning that individuals who fell trees indiscriminately without authorization will face prosecution in the state.
I also urged the private sector, civil society groups, and individuals to support the government’s efforts in maintaining a healthier and safer environment across the state.
We are grateful to The Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II for blessing the occasion with his presence, and for his call on the good people of Kano State to plant more trees and keep a healthier environment. - AKY
