@Kendra_Little I get blood draws for labs a LOT, and it's amazing the difference between the phlebotomists who can find the vein and get you bleeding into a vial painlessly and the folks who put in IVs who have to stick me a few times and it hurts like hell. And my veins are huge and pop out.

@DavidGiard Modern lead acid batteries give very little warning before giving up the ghost. You should try charging it back up with a battery charger (it's a myth that batteries recharge very much from driving, unless you drive for a long distance) and see if it holds.

@GlennAlanBerry IME the marginal amount of extra CPU used for compression is vastly outweighed by the shortened backup time. Less time backing up, less time using CPU for backups. Only time I avoid compression is with encrypted DBs.

@skreebydba Yeah, I have a tendency to say "we'll do what we can, but this is a bad idea and I don't plan to waste a whole weekend supporting it." Enabling clients bad practices does them no favors, they just repeat the same thing the next time.
