In by-elections, as election is in 1-2 seats, most interested parties do extensive daily opinion polls and put all in exit polls. They have a better & detailed understanding of polling booths which are doing good for them.

If EVM result is different from opinion polls/exit polls, it will be called out with extensive data backing.

Therefore, EVM manipulation is very unlikely in such by-elections. There is a very high risk of getting exposed.
