மூத்த பத்திரிக்கையாளர் ஒருவர் திமுக ஆட்சியின் போது இரவு நேரம் சென்னையில் அவர் பகுதியில் மின்சாரம் தடைபடுகிறது.. அவர் அதுகுறித்து உடனே ட்விட்டரில் ( X பக்கம் ) எழுதி மின் துறை அமைச்சர் என்ன செய்கிறார் என்று கேள்வி எழுப்பியிருந்தார்… பதிவைப் பார்த்த அமைச்சர் செந்தில் பாலாஜி அந்த இரவு நேரத்திலும் என் அலைபேசிக்கு தொடர்பு கொண்டார்.. அண்ணா அந்த பத்திரிக்கையாளரின் பதிவைப் பார்த்தேன். உடனே அதிகாரிகளைத் தொடர்பு கொண்டு கடுமையாக விளக்கம் கேட்டு கடும் எச்சரிக்கையும் கொடுத்தேன்.. டிரிப் ஆகியதால் சில நிமிடமே மின்சாரம் தடைபட்டுள்ளது. உடனே வந்து விட்டது என்று விளக்கம் தந்தார்கள்… இந்த இரவு நேரத்திலும் ஒரு சமூக வலைதள பதிவிற்காக நாங்கள் பொறுப்புடம் விசாரிக்கிறோம்.. ஆனால் மின்சாரம் வந்ததோ நாங்கள் பணியாற்றியதோ மக்களுக்குத் தெரியாது. அந்த பதிவு மட்டும்தான் நிற்கும் என்றார்… அவரின் எண் கேட்டார். அந்த மூத்த பத்திரிக்கையாளரையும் அழைத்து மின்சாரம் வந்து விட்டதா என்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்… அந்த மூத்த பத்திரிக்கையாளரும் அமைச்சர் பேசியதையும், மின்சாரம் வந்ததையும் ஒரு பதிவிட்டார்…. ( இது குறித்து அப்போதே நான் எழுதியும் உள்ளேன் ) மின் வாரிய கடனை அடைத்து தடையில்லா மின்சாரம் தந்த திமுக வை நிராகரித்த தமிழ் நாட்டு மக்கள் , குறிப்பாக சென்னை மக்கள் இன்று பல மனி நேர மின் வெட்டால் இருளில் வாழ்கிறார்கள்.. கண்டித்து போராடிய பிறகும் கூட வந்து பொறுப்பாக பதில் சொல்லக் கூட ஆளின்றி நிற்கிறார்கள்.. எம் எல் ஏ யார் என்று கூடத் தெரியாமல் திரை மயக்கத்தில் வாக்களித்துவிட்டு இன்று எம் எல் ஏ வைத் தேடுகிறார்கள்… விஜய் செல்லும் விமானத்தைப் பார்ப்பதே பெரும் பாக்கியம் என்ற நிலைக்கு தமிழ் நாடு வந்திருப்பது பெரும் கொடுமை…. இது தமிழ் நாட்டின் இருண்ட காலம்

This is a sad statistic. Don't know how this compares with other States. Men die younger than women the world over in most countries, but this kind of a gap is not usual. Certainly alcohol is one reason.

Supersession is institutional corrosion.

When the collegium skips the top three High Court Chief Justices in All-India seniority and elevates numbers 4, 5 and 6, it tells every judge in the country that seniority, service, and expectation mean nothing the moment the closed door closes. You cannot preach independence of the judiciary while practising the same opacity and favouritism you condemn in every other institution.

In the Army, Civil Services and judiciary, supersession destroys morale faster than any external threat. Once people realise that merit and seniority are optional, the institution starts selecting for pliability, not competence. That is how institutions rot from the inside.

Either give clear, recorded reasons for every supersession or stop pretending the process is pure. Silence is not independence. It is just unaccountable power.
